Via the roof of the Tharandt Forest to the center of Saxony

We will see a part of the first »Sachsenring« race track, hike to exciting natural sites in the forest and out on the plains with interesting vistas on the traditional local structure of settlements in the region. At the end we reach the center of Saxony via the highest point of the Tharandter Wald with its mighty porphyry rock and the former robber’s den of the leader of the gang, Lips Tulian.

The way back runs through the beautiful Tännicht Valley and leads to the “Naturerlebnishof Weidegut Colmnitz” with numerous animals, herbal garden, barbecue pit and a playground. On the last part of the trail the shape of the landscape hints at the former site of a brick manufactory. As a special wish one can participate in a guided tour of the vinegar and mustard manufacture Schneider. (Essig und Senfmanufaktur Schneider). They also offer tastings of their products. A small snack is also included if wished for.  If you plan to visit the manufactory make arrangements when registering for the tour. This exciting tour of the manufacture will be charged extra. It is also possible to use the barbecue pit at the Weidegut farmhouse during the tour after consulting the GEOPARK Ranger. Moreover, at the end of the tour there is a place for meals and refreshments.
